Description
On a dive in Mauritius, Forbes Mavros was extremely lucky to observe the remarkable creature, the Common seahorse, or Hippocampus kuda, a Greek word meaning ‘horse monster’. The seahorse is an amusing amalgam of incongruous parts—a horse’s head, a dragon’s scales, a chameleon’s free-roving eyes and changeable colors, a monkey’s tail, a kangaroo’s pouch, an insect’s armour, and a hummingbird’s wings—yet the fact remains that it is simply a fish.
